Survey designer

The Vello survey designer is the tool that you use to make surveys. Examples of what you can use the survey designer to do include:
  • Add a survey image (for example, your practice logo)
  • Add input types to questions (for example, text boxes, rating scales, and checkboxes)
  • Add survey variables to questions to quickly and easily show pet and pet owner information (for example, pet name or pet owner address)
  • Put groups of survey questions in dedicated survey pages
  • Add condition sets (for example, make a question mandatory if all conditions agree)
  • Make a fully prepared survey available for clients to open and complete
Note: Only a practice manager has access to the survey designer.

Survey statuses

The Surveys screen in Vello shows entries for each survey that you make. Each entry shows a status:
Statuses as shown in the Surveys screen
This table gives each status and information about it:
Survey statusInformation
PublishedThe Published status identifies a survey that is prepared for clients to open and complete. A survey entry has the Published status after you add all the necessary content to a survey, then select Publish in the Survey Designer screen.

A survey with the Published status has a survey link that you can get and send to clients.

Note: A survey that has the Published status is permanently locked and you cannot make changes to it. As an alternative, you can make a copy of the survey, then make changes to the copy.
DraftThe Draft status identifies a survey that you started to make with the survey designer. It is not possible to get a survey link for a survey has the Draft status. And you cannot show a report for a survey that has the status.
ArchivedThe Archived status identifies a survey that you archived.

Survey reporting

Vello has dedicated reporting for completed surveys. Examples of data that you can use survey reporting to get include:
  • The name of each client who completed a survey and the date that they completed it
  • Each survey question
  • The information that a client entered or selected for each survey question

Tip: You can export survey report data as CSV format.

Archived surveys

To make survey maintenance easier, you can archive a survey. After you archive a survey:
  • Vello sets the Archived status for the survey
  • The Surveys screen does not show archived surveys unless you select the Show Archived setting in the screen
Note: It is not possible to permanently remove a survey from Vello. You can only archive surveys.
