Make a survey with AI

A practice manager can use AI to make a survey with an AI prompt or from a PDF document. Then, they can send it as a survey link to their clients. Then, clients use the link to open and complete the survey.

  • Make sure that you know the settings and functions of the survey designer
  • Make sure that you know about survey input types and survey variables
To make a survey, do this procedure.
  1. Open Vello from your PIMS.
    Note: If you use Cornerstone, sign in to mycornerstone.idexx.com to get access to Vello.
  2. In the left sidebar, select Surveys.

  3. Select Create New.

  4. Select Generate with AI or Import PDF as necessary.
    Note: Select Generate with AI to use an AI prompt to make the survey. After you select Generate with AI, enter an AI prompt. For example, enter Create a customer satisfaction survey for a clinic. Ask for name, city, NPS score 0-10, and an optional comment. Make NPS score required.

    Select Import PDF to use a PDF document to make the survey. For AI to make a survey from a PDF document, the document must have text content. Vello cannot make a form from a PDF document that shows text as images (for example text that is a scanned image).

  5. In the Survey Name box, enter a name.
    Note: Survey Name does not show to clients.
  6. Select the image button, then find and select an applicable image to add to the survey (for example, your practice logo).

  7. In the Survey Title box, enter a title.
  8. Continue to add more questions and make changes until the survey is prepared.
    Tip: To make sure the Vello keeps your changes, select Save Draft:

    Tip: To make sure that survey will show correctly for clients, select Preview:

  9. Select Publish, and in the pop-up window that Vello shows, select Publish again.

    • Has a new entry for the survey that you made
    • Shows a status of Published for the new entry
  10. Adjacent to the new entry, select the horizontal ellipsis (), then select Copy Link.

  11. Select Publish, and in the pop-up window that Vello shows, select Publish again.

    • Has a new entry for the survey that you made
    • Shows a status of Published for the new entry
Vello has a survey that is prepared for clients to use.
Send the survey link to the applicable clients. Example methods that you can use to send the link include:
  • Text messages in the Vello inbox
  • A Vello quick reply
  • A general email message or a Vello thank-you email
  • An email that you use Vello's Mass Communications feature to send
Tip: A Vello thank-you email is a good method to quickly and easily send a survey to clients. Vello can automatically send a thank-you email with a survey link after a patient has their appointment.
