The email address and phone number that Vello uses for communication

For email communication with clients, Vello uses a system email address. For text messages with clients, Vello uses a registered phone number.

Note: Vello does not use your practice email address and practice phone number for client communication.

System email address

A system email address is a special type of address that an app uses to send email. Vello uses a system email address to send email to clients. The system email address that Vello shows in email messages is notifications@t.mail.vello.idexx.com. The name of your practice shows adjacent to the email address. The practice name syncs from your PIMS to Vello.

This image shows the system email address and practice name of a Vello email:

Note: Vello uses a system email address only to send email messages. Clients cannot send a reply to the address. If a client tries to send a reply, they will receive a delivery failure message.

Registered phone number

After your practice completes SMS registration, your practice receives a registered phone number. Vello uses the registered phone number to send text messages.

You can find your practice's registered phone number in Vello as follows:
  1. Open Vello
  2. Hover over the information icon that is adjacent to Text Messages & Requests

The registered phone number is different to your practice phone number. But if a person makes a phone call to your registered phone number, the phone call automatically goes to your practice's phone number.

Persons who are not clients of your practice can send text messages to the registered phone number. If you want, you can send a reply to them. But you cannot send an initial text message to a person who does not have a client contact record in your PIMS.

If a person sends a text message to your practice but your PIMS does not have a contact record for the person, the Vello inbox shows this message:
  • We didn't find any clients in your practice management system that match this phone number.
If a person sends a text message to your practice but your PIMS has more than one contact record for the person, the Vello inbox shows this message:
  • We found multiple clients in your practice management system that match this phone number.
