Campaign recipients and custom filters

The Vello campaigns feature has a set of filters that you can use to control which clients receive an email. For example, you can send an email to all clients who have pets that are more than 10 years old.

After you make an email, you can select Custom filters in the Recipients section of the Campaign details screen to get access to the filters:
Recipients dialog box

Each filter uses one type of information about your clients and their pets (for example, the species of a pet). This table gives each filter that you can add in the first box shown and more filters that you can select for it:

FilterWhat you can select
Species, Breed, or Sex
Note: The available species, breed, and sex that show as available to select are synced directly from your PIMS.
is or is not, and one or more values.

Appointment historySelect:
  • includes or does not include
  • The applicable appointment types
  • A specified period:
    • Any time
    • In the last 3, 6, 12, 18, or 24 months
    • More than 3, 6, 12, 18, or 24 months ago
    • Since a date that you select
If you want, you can select the Include clients who have never had an appointment checkbox.
Note: If you selected one or more appointment types, the checkbox shows Include clients who have never had one of these appointments.
Note: Vello uses the date of an appointment, and not the status of the appointment. For example, Vello counts appointments that were canceled or missed. If the date is before today, Vello counts the appointment.

The appointment types that Vello uses as a filter are synced from your PIMS.

Medical service Select:
  • includes or does not include
  • The applicable medical service reminders
  • The due date of the medical services:
    • Any due date
    • Overdue
    • Overdue by 90+ days, 6+ months, or 12+ months
    • Due in the next 30 or 90 days

The medical service data that Vello uses as a filter is synced from your PIMS.

Note: In the Campaign details dialog box, Vello automatically selects Exclude clients with only deceased or inactive pets. If you want to send an email to clients that have only deceased or inactive pets, you can clear the setting.

To add more filters, select And or Or. This table gives the function of each filter:

FilterFunction
AndSelect And to add a filter to a set of filters. Vello only sends the email to clients that agree with all of the filters in the set. For example:
  • You add a Species filter and select Canine
  • You select And
  • You add an Age filter that is between five years and 10 years
Result: Vello only sends the email to clients that have a canine that is between five years and 10 years old.
OrSelect Or to start a new set of filters. Vello sends the email to clients that agree with all of the filters in one or more of the sets. For example:
  • You add a Species filter and select Canine
  • You select Or
  • You add a Species filter, and select Feline
Result: Vello sends the email to clients that have a canine and to clients that have a feline.
Note: ezyVet hospitals: Vello only sends the email to clients of the hospital that you use Vello settings in ezyVet to sign in to.
